Their Little World

There are somethings in this world that I just don't really get. And one of those is fashion for kids. As I see it, it's not at all about the kids 'expressing themselves', but creating a hip new decoration for the parent.

From the site Their Little World:

Theirlittleworld.com is a brand new website that brings together all aspects of what is really important in a child’s life today. From style and trend reports each season and news on the latest events to great ideas forgetting the kids away from the television, including recipes to get them cooking in the kitchen and educational books and games. We even feature great ways to keep their areas of the house stylish with chic storage and decoration ideas.

  1. Its like parents think that by giving external independence to their kids re-invoices the vision that they have of their kids as the conscientious hero/heroines of tomorrows world.

why don't they spend their money on books for the kids? On the other hand external independence usually leads to mental independence as a teenager/young adult so maybe possibly the 'dress up your kid thing' isn't completely self serving?

  2. man i dont get this eh,
i dont know why you'd want your kid to be fashion concious. The greatest days of my life were when i was able to run around in slacks and a donald duck tshirt! and free from the decision of what to wear in the morning. It's only now that i'm finally starting to break free of fashion opression, and no longer care what everyone thinks of me.
why you'd wanna put undue pressure like that on a kid is beyond me.
im a big believer in the innocence of childhood being retained as long as possible (except for issues regarding responsibility and empathy, as you may have guessed)
